Video: How can the fresh produce industry reduce its risk of food safety outbreaks?

Keeping consumers healthy and safe is the industry’s first priority, and food safety outbreaks and recalls have serious and long-term consequences for the industry.

Fresh fruit and vegetable grower-shippers can improve food safety by leveraging their most important asset: their employees. Equitable Food Initiative trains employees to identify, mitigate and respond to food safety issues.

“If you can teach the protocols for food safety to your employees, and allow them to use the skills, experience and knowledge that they already have, they will find places along that supply chain where there’s more risk and they will find opportunities and solutions to mitigating that risk along the supply chain,” explains Kevin Boyle, Director of New Product & Business Development for EFI.
