Tip of the Iceberg Podcast – Episode 18: Having Difficult Conversations Leads to Engaged, Productive Workplaces

Join us with Louisa Clarke, Founder of Confidently There, to talk about conflict and face difficult conversations in the workplace. In this episode, we will discuss how conflict is a normal and healthy part of human relationships and how having difficult discussions can help to be more productive in the workplace.

Clarke highlights the repercussions of avoiding difficult conversations or not handling them effectively in the workplace. Some individuals may feel apprehensive about making mistakes since they fear the consequences that come with it. Alternatively, they may feel that they lack an avenue to discuss the challenges they encounter, which could result in dissatisfaction and the loss of valuable team members.

Some of the alternatives we think we can do is become a lovely, warm, and sweet person, but these characteristics don’t necessarily fill the expectation or the challenge of bringing up difficult conversations. It is important to create a kind environment, to create a real connection, and to allow spaces for people to be seen and heard.
