Growing with Gratitude

The end of the year is around the corner and with it comes a natural moment for reflection. It’s time to look back on all the accomplishments, the learnings and the challenges we’ve overcome in 2025, and to start planting the seeds for projects and goals in 2026.

This time also offers a crucial space for acknowledgment. We want to keep recognizing the indispensable contribution of every person who moves the agricultural industry forward: the farmworkers, growers, suppliers, buyers and partners who bring delicious fresh produce to our tables.

This year, Equitable Food Initiative has compiled resources and ideas to help you intentionally bring gratitude into your workplace to help you celebrate and thank your teams.

The Gratitude Wall or Digital Board

Create a public space for everyone’s voices and appreciation to foster a positive team environment.

  • Gratitude Wall: Select a designated, centralized spot where anyone can publicly post thank-you notes, shout-outs and appreciation messages to colleagues.
  • Digital Boards: Create a digital board (try this Canva template) to share within your company and invite words of gratitude and thanks.

The Gratitude Jar

A reflective and personal exercise that encourages mindful appreciation over time, perfect for teams, families or individuals.

For this activity, a simple, decorated container can be used to drop in daily or random notes detailing something they are grateful for. The notes are then read aloud at a designated time (e.g., the end of the month, the end of the year) to spark reflection and joy. This idea can be complemented with a gratitude meal using EFI-certified fresh fruits and vegetables like the ones in the recipes below.

The Gratitude Meal and Treats

Hosting a simple, low-stress appreciation event like a lunch or coffee break is an opportunity for workers to relax, connect and enjoy a shared meal that celebrates the very produce they help bring to market. Here are some of our favorite recipes:

 Social Media Challenge

It’s time to take your appreciation public! We invite everyone to join our Social Media Challenge and spread gratitude. Post a photo, share a quick thank you message, or shout out the amazing person who inspires you. Be sure to use our shared hashtag: #GrowingWithGratitude.

Let these ideas inspire you to pause before the year closes and thank the people around you. By bringing gratitude into our daily and annual practices, we don’t just recognize the past; we actively build a more connected, appreciative and hopeful foundation for 2026.
