FSN: Farmworkers’ input on food safety now turns to coronavirus safety

Food Safety News Article: Coronavirus and farmworkersaFood Safety News wrote about how the coronavirus pandemic is putting things into a new light. Consumers are beginning to realize that agricultural workers are indeed essential workers.

The article mentioned how our organization, Equitable Food Initiative (EFI), has broadened its approach from food safety to include coronavirus: “Even though the original focus of the Equitable Food Initiative was on farmworker labor conditions and supplying consumers with safe food, no one back then could have foreseen how important EFI Leadership Teams (continuous improvement teams onsite) would prove to be when dealing with coronavirus.”

EFI has worked with its certified growers to learn from worker-manager teams and to put together educational materials about coronavirus that can be shared directly with fresh produce growers and farmworkers.
