Cameron Spencer, an anthropology graduate at Texas Tech University, wrote a historical piece on the challenges of farmworkers from World War II to this day and included Equitable Food Initiative (EFI) as part of the solution to those farm labor issues.
“To address these issues, EFI developed a comprehensive set of labor, food safety, and environmental standards while cultivating relationships between these highly fragmented groups (worker and management), whose coordinated efforts have built new structures and processes that enable farmworkers to nurture and extend their knowledge of farming, allowing their voice to be heard when implementing new safety and working conditions on the farm (Scully-Ross and Boyle 2018:42-43).”
