The Farmworker of the Year Award was launched in 2024 to recognize the essential workers who bring food to our tables. Over 40 nominations were submitted, and every nominee had a different story: stories of resilience, leadership, growth, mentorship, and more.
If you have someone in mind to nominate for this award, keep reading to get some insights about creating a winning nomination. Details are important! The more specific your examples, the stronger your nomination will be. Here are key aspects to focus on when completing the nomination form, along with tips to bring their achievements to life.
- Longevity in the Industry
Highlight the nominee’s years of dedication. Did they start as an entry-level employee and rise through the ranks? These milestones they’ve achieved over the years are important.
- Skills Learned and Developed
Focus on the skills they’ve acquired over time. Specify technical expertise, problem-solving capabilities and interpersonal skills that make them stand out.
- Professional Development
Describe how the nominee has invested in their growth by attending workshops, earning certifications or pursuing any type of additional education.
- Values That Represent the Person
Successful nominees will showcase a positive attitude toward their work and team, be motivated to learn new skills and take an active role in their organization or community.
- Volunteer Time with Co-Workers or in the Community
Recognize their contributions outside of work. Community involvement can highlight their character and impact.
- Moments of Resilience
Resilience reveals the nominee’s ability to navigate challenges. Share examples of when they overcame obstacles.
- Moments of Leadership
We all can lead from our current role and leadership takes many forms. Highlight instances where the nominee inspired or guided others.
- Mentorship
Show how the nominee has lifted others through guidance and support.
Your nomination doesn’t need to have every point above, but by focusing on some of these elements and providing examples, you can submit a nomination that not only highlights the nominee’s achievements but also demonstrates why they are truly deserving of recognition.
The selection of the finalists and winners is in the hands of an esteemed panel of judges from EFI, The Packer and FullTilt Marketing. Their expertise and insights will bring forth the best nominations.
