Farmworker Illustration Contest
Engaging farmworkers in the development of our LT Training Manual
This contest will highlight the artistic talents within our industry, providing farmworkers with a platform to contribute to a resource that supports leadership and collaboration. The illustrations may reflect EFI’s core values—leadership, equity, teamwork, and continuous improvement in agriculture—but may also represent compliance with the certification standards. This approach will ensure the manual is visually engaging while reinforcing critical aspects of EFI programs.
Artists are encouraged to interpret these themes based on their learning from EFI, bringing a creative and meaningful perspective to the manual’s illustrations.

Key Themes:
The Leadership Team’s role is to build a bridge of collaboration and communication between farmworkers and management, by working collectively to ensure compliance with EFI standards while fostering a culture of continuous improvement. Active listening, building trust, addressing conflicts respectfully, and finding common ground are important skills that leadership team members should develop.
Artists can explore themes of collaboration, inclusivity, and shared responsibility in their illustrations. Imagery might include:
- Bridges or symbolic connections between diverse groups, highlighting the role of the Leadership Team in uniting farmworkers and management; and the role of effective communication in building trust and connecting ideas.
- Scenes of teamwork, engagement and productive meetings, where team members from different roles and backgrounds come together in open dialogue; symbolizing active listening and the willingness to understand different perspectives.
- Growth and progress, symbolizing the Leadership Team’s commitment to constant improvement.
- Scenes of peer-to-peer learning or mentorship, showing Leadership Team members sharing knowledge with coworkers in a supportive, approachable setting.
- Workers across different roles—such as harvesters, tractor drivers, quality control staff, and packing line workers—collaborating to address real issues on the field or in the packing house.
- Scenes showing teamwork in practical settings, such as a group of workers examining a crop for quality control, addressing maintenance issues, or discussing logistics in a bustling packing line, illustrating the real-world application of problem-solving.
