Certification Audit
At EFI we know that each operation we certify is unique, so we scope each audit based on the needs of the operation.
How Does the Audit Work?
You can choose the audit plan that works best for your business and satisfies your customer requirements. With a foundation of Social Responsibility and a Culture of Food Safety, you can pick and choose what add-ons your customers are asking for:
- EFI Social Responsibility Standards – Required for all EFI Certification audits
- Culture of Food Safety Addendum – Required for all EFI Certification audits
- Processing and Packhouse Standards -Required for all packhouse audits
- IPM/Pollinator Health – Optional add-on
- Ethical Charter Addendum – Optional add-on (required for all Walmart requested audits; qualifies the grower for a free subscription and a gold star in the Ethical Charter Implementation Program)
What you bring: a current GFSI-benchmarked food safety certification
How to Design the Audit Your Operation Needs?
EFI Certification offers a customizable audit scope designed to adapt to your unique operation. You have the flexibility to certify only your farming fields or your packing facility or both at the same time.
An operation will undergo EFI’s Social Responsibility audit, paired with the Culture of Food Safety Addendum, but you will have the option to include Integrated Pest Management (IPM)/Pollinator Health or add the Ethical Charter Addendum to your Social Responsibility audit
Our customized audit approach focuses on creating a certification path that suits your specific needs.
The core of EFI, our Worker-Manager Collaboration (WMC) Team and the accompanying training, remains intact no matter how you choose to audit.
Who Are EFI’s Third-Party Auditors
The following certifying bodies provide the third-party independent assessment for auditing farming operations to the EFI Standards. Operations independently choose and retain a certifying body.
