Nominate a Farmworker for the Grow the Good Program

EFI and The Packer have joined forces to launch Grow the Good, a program that recognizes the skilled individuals who work tirelessly every day to bring fresh fruits and vegetables to our tables. The fresh produce industry is built on the essential workers who plant, grow, care for, harvest, pack and ship the healthy and nutritious food our customers and consumers count on. As an industry experiencing labor shortages, economic, supply chain and weather challenges as well as global pressures, it is the perfect time to formerly salute the workers behind the scenes.

Once nominated to the Grow for Good program, workers and their companies may be featured in upcoming content for The Packer – from articles and podcasts to videos and special features. In addition, all nominees will be entered to be named a Grow the Good finalist and receive travel fees and registration to the West Coast Produce Expo in June 2024. During the Expo, one finalist will be named 2024 Farmworker of the Year.

Selection Criteria

The following will be used as selection criteria for the Grow the Good program.

Nominated individuals should work in the fresh produce industry in a farm labor or production role and have worked in that or a similar role for at least two years. Nominees should not serve in administrative or managerial positions, but may hold a leadership role within their team. Successful nominees will showcase a positive attitude toward their work and team, be motivated in learning new skills and take an active role in their organization or community.

Timeline

Nominations can be made through March 1, 2024. Finalists will be notified by April 15, with the Grow the Good Farmworker of the Year named June 1, 2024, at the West Coast Produce Expo.
